Public Notice – Interim Mayor Appointment Process

Due to a vacancy in the office of Mayor, the Louisa Town Council is seeking applications from town citizens interested in being appointed as Interim Mayor. Once appointed the Interim Mayor will hold the office of Mayor until a Special Election is held, this November, to allow town voters to elect a candidate to complete the remainder of the current mayoral term,
which ends on December 31, 2026. In accordance with state elections law, the Council filed a petition with the Circuit Court requesting the special election to be held during the next general election, scheduled for November 4, 2025. To be eligible for appointment as Interim Mayor, a candidate must be a qualified voter and resident of the Town of Louisa. Experience in local government is preferred but not required, depending on a candidate’s other relevant education and experience. Interested individuals must submit a cover letter and resume to:
